My Adventures With Superman: How This Show Won Me Over

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

In this video, I recount how I had no real desire to give My Adventures With Superman a chance. Having been spoiled by the Bruce Timm cartoons, this show just didn’t seem like it would measure up when I first heard about it.

Then, I gave it a chance.

And I’m so glad I did. This show is an absolute delight. It gives us a sweet, genuine, lovable version of Superman that the world needs right now. Enjoy!

On My Way To New York Comic Con!

It’s that magical time of year, once again!

The New York Comic Con is upon us!

And once again, I plan to attend. As I am typing this right now, I am making my final preparations. I’ve got my pass, I’ve got my costume, and I’ve got a stack of comics that I hope to get signed by my favorite artists and writers.

There’s so much I want to see. And while I know for certain I won’t get to see everything, I’m confident it’ll be another wonderful experience to remember. I’ve documented my past trips to New York Comic Con before. Every time I go, I encounter so many amazing people and forge memories that I deeply cherish. This trip has since become a highlight every year. And I look forward to making this year just as special.

I am so ready!

New York, here I come!

Absolute Batman #1: Why It Absolutely Works And Why It Matters

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

DC Comics’ new Absolute Universe has arrived. An all-new, much darker DC Universe has emerged. And our first glimpse of this world unfolds in Absolute Batman #1.

It’s the most ambitious reinvention of Batman in years. And Scott Snyder really accomplishes something special with this first issue. I would go so far to argue that this is the most important Batman comic of the past 25 years and this new Absolute Batman is one of the most imposing versions of Batman we’ve ever gotten. Enjoy!

Batman The Animated Series: Batman Vs. Three Bored Billionaires

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

In this video, I highlight and explore one of my favorite episodes of Batman: The Animated Series. While Batman has one of the best rogue’s gallery in all of comics, this episode had him clash with a different kind of enemy.

Like Bruce Wayne, they’re billionaires.

Unlike Bruce Wayne, they choose to be villains.

But it’s why they make such a choice that’s truly remarkable. And the nature of that choice does a lot to affirm why Batman’s story is so powerful. Enjoy!

Invincible: The Trauma of Being A Superhero

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video is a lengthy, but in depth discussion about being a superhero and the trauma that comes with it. Few franchises or characters dare to explore it. But Invincible, both the comic and the TV show, dare to demonstrate in brutal detail just how traumatic being a hero can be.

There’s a lot to be said about the unique heroic journey of Mark Grayson, Atom Eve, and even Omni-Man. But I contend that the trauma of being a hero and doing the right thing is the connective tissue that makes this story so powerful. Enjoy!

Why Spider-Man Should NOT Be Broke

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video explores the long-standing, but very much outdated trope of Spider-Man being broke. Like most mainstream superheroes, Spider-Man is subject to a lot of recurring tropes. Most involve his personal life.

However, I don’t think the overplayed plots about him being broke get enough attention. In addition to breaking down why this makes no sense, I also highlight a few other jobs or careers that would easily ensure Spider-Man never has to worry about money. Enjoy!

X-Men Krakoa Post-Mortem: An Uncanny Dream With A Nightmare Ending

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video is a post-mortem and an overall breakdown of the end of the Krakoa era in the X-Men comics. What started with House of X/Powers of X and ended with Fall of X, the X-Men underwent some of the biggest upheavals the franchise has experienced since the Chris Claremont era. It laid a new foundation unlike anything we’d seen before with the X-Men.

Then, Fall of X came and brought it to an ugly, destructive end.

There’s a lot to be said about the Krakoa era, what led up to it, and what will come after it. I do my best share my sentiments, my hopes, and what this era means to me and other X-Men fans. Enjoy!

How AI Art Could Upend/Destroy The Comic Book Industry

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video covers some recent news surrounding accusations about major comic publishers utilizing AI art and the larger implications that this new technology will have on the industry. Artificial Intelligence promises to impact a lot of industries, but the comic industry is uniquely vulnerable. And it’s definitely worth confronting as the technology continues to improve.

Absolute Comics: DC Comics’ Ultimate Universe | Hopes And Concerns

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video is my reaction and overall breakdown by recent rumors that DC Comics will be launching a new imprint called Absolute Comics. This imprint is being pitched as DC’s version of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe. It offers the potential of new visions of iconic DC characters.

While I am very intrigued by this, I do have some hopes and concerns. But rest assured, I’ll be keeping an eye on this news moving forward.
