In October 2026, Marvel is set to launch the Midnight Universe. This imprint promises a horror themed alternate universe that Marvel hopes will achieve the same success as its previous Ultimate Universes.
However, as interesting as the concept might be, I am very skeptical that it’s going to work in the long term. And in this video, I explain why it could fail and what Marvel needs to do to avoid that failure.

The Joker has always been so much more than Batman’s arch-nemesis. He’s one of those special villains who is blunt, distinct, and chaotic. He has a presence that’s as unique as his elaborate plans. And while there have been many versions of the Joker over the years, one in particular stands out more than most.
In DC’s Absolute Universe, the dynamics are inverted. The rules are different. In addition to giving us distinct versions of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, this world has given us a version of the Joker that is truly terrifying in a wholly relevant way. And given the current state of our world, it’s worth highlighting. Enjoy!

DC Comics’ new Absolute Universe has arrived. An all-new, much darker DC Universe has emerged. And our first glimpse of this world unfolds in Absolute Batman #1.
It’s the most ambitious reinvention of Batman in years. And Scott Snyder really accomplishes something special with this first issue. I would go so far to argue that this is the most important Batman comic of the past 25 years and this new Absolute Batman is one of the most imposing versions of Batman we’ve ever gotten. Enjoy!
