The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This video is my spoiler-filled review of Marvel Studios’ “Eternals.” I’m well-aware that this movie was quite divisive among fans and critics, but I never let that sort of thing keep me from appreciating a movie, nor should anyone else. This is just my opinion of this very bold, very different kind of superhero movie. Enjoy!

New Comic Book Day November 3, 2021: My Pull List And Pick Of The Week
I hope everyone had a great Halloween. I certainly did. It always warms my heart to see so many kids dressed as superheroes. This year, I can confirm that the impact of both Loki and Shang-Chi was quite extensive. The Loki costumes alone warranted extra candy. I made sure they all got their share. I also made sure I still had some left over to enjoy for New Comic Book Day.
It’s one of the underrated joys I’ve come to appreciate over the years. I always make it a point to buy extra candy for Halloween so that the kids know my place is one of the best places to go. I also make sure there’s some left over for the next New Comic Book Day. That way, I can both enjoy new comics and eat some of the leftover candy. It’s a small, but satisfying joy that has become a post-Halloween tradition of mine.
For those who went trick-or-treating and got a nice haul, I encourage you to incorporate that candy into New Comic Book Day as well. Comics are like the ultimate spice. It makes everything you mix it with a little more awesome. Get yourself a bowl of candy, a fully charged iPad, and a Comixology account and you’ve got the perfect post-Halloween trifecta. To those who dress up as their favorite superheroes, I can confirm that this makes the candy taste even sweeter.
I’ve got both my candy and coffee in hand. I’ve got my iPad ready and stocked with comics to start my day. To all those who seek to share in this little tradition, here is my pull list and pick of the week. Enjoy!

New Comic Book Day October 27, 2021: My Pull List And Pick Of The Week
Every New Comic Book Day is awesome in its own right. I like to think I’ve made that abundantly clear on this website. It’s not like I hide how excited I get every Wednesday when I wake up to read all the new comics from my pull list. That being said, some New Comic Book Days are just more inherently awesome than others.
This week is definitely one of them because it’s the same week as Halloween.
Now, the reason for that is largely personal. I just find the act of reading new comics the same week as Halloween a lot more enjoyable, mostly because there’s often an abundant supply of candy nearby. In addition to my morning coffee, I plan on getting a handful of candy to enjoy as I read new comics. Whether you’re a kid or an adult, there’s just no getting around it. Candy makes something better.
That might not improve the reading experience for everyone, but let’s not overcomplicate this. Halloween is a holiday built around dressing up in costumes and getting free candy. Not everyone can dress up in a costume on a Wednesday morning, but they can enjoy a little candy while they read comics. If that doesn’t make your day better, by default, then you’re just being difficult.
Halloween is still a few days away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start enjoying some candy. Combine that with a stack of new comics and your week is that much more enjoyable. I already have some candy right next to me as I type this. Here’s my pull list and pick to show what I’ll be reading as I eat it. If you have any Halloween candy nearby, I encourage you to do the same. I’m sure he trick-or-treaters will understand. Enjoy!

New Comic Book Day October 13, 2021: My Pull List And Pick Of The Week
Growing up, there were many benefits to being a comic book fan. Yes, there were some drawbacks. It wasn’t that long ago that superhero comics were the exclusive domain of nerds, geeks, and kids. The fact that superheroes now regularly make billions at the box office proves that more people liked them than anyone dared admit.
Even before they became mainstream, comics and superheroes had plenty of upsides. For one, they were relatively cheap. When I was a kid, a comic book cost just a couple of bucks at most and didn’t require an extra summer job to get into. I could get by just by mowing lawns and collecting my allowance. Compared to other hobbies that required investment, that’s a hell of a bargain.
I had some friends that loved cars, golf, and fashion. I guarantee they spent way more money on accessories than I ever did on comics. Hell, I knew girls who spent more money on boy band merchandise than I spent on comics. I doubt many of those same girls have that stuff. I still have comics that I bought while I was in high school.
These days, it’s never been easier to get into comics. Now, all you need is an Amazon account and Comixology. Plus, with services like Comixology Unlimited, you can basically read hundreds of books a month for the cost of a latte. I challenge anyone to find a better deal.
In the meantime, another New Comic Book Day is upon us and with it comes more benefits of being a comic fan. Here is my pull list and pick of the week. Enjoy!

New Comic Book Day October 6, 2021: My Pull List And Pick Of The Week
Every week brings with it another New Comic Book Day. When you’re a lifelong comic book fan with a Comixology account, it makes waking up early on Wednesday mornings and reading new comics one of the best part the week. I’m not ashamed to say I build much of my weeks around that experience.
However, not all New Comic Book Days are held in the same regard and not just in terms of big events I’ve been following. This week is uniquely special because in just a couple days from now, I’ll be at the New York Comic Con! After not being able to attend last year because of the pandemic, I’m even more excited than usual.
I have my pass. I have my costume. I have a stack of comics that I hope to get signed. There’s so much I want to do while I’m there. Chances are I won’t get to do it all, but I don’t care. Going to the New York Comic Con has always been one of the highlights of my year and after last year, I’m not taking this one for granted.
The week of the New York Comic Con always seems to make new comics that much more special. They act as a reminder of why I love going to these conventions and why the experience matters so much to me. If you’re lucky enough to go New York Comic Con this year, I hope you enjoy that experience just as much.
In the meantime, here is my pull list and pick of the week. Tomorrow, I’m off to New York! Enjoy!

New Comic Book Day September 29, 2021: My Pull List And Pick Of The Week
Every Wednesday is New Comic Book Day and every New Comic Book Day brings something that enriches my world. I imagine many fellow comic book fans feel the same. They may not do what I do and wake up at 4:30 in the morning every Wednesday to read all the new books on their pull list, but the sentiment is still the same.
The world is a crazy, chaotic place. We’re also entering a time of year where the days are getting shorter, the weather is getting colder, and random trips to the beach aren’t as feasible, unless you live in a tropical climate. This is a span of time that is light on holidays, heavy on school, and high on stress. We all need something to help us endure.
For me, having a stack of new comics to look forward to every week doesn’t just help. It energizes my soul. It’s like getting a pep talk from Captain America every week. It just encourages me to get out there, endure all the craziness, and let my love of comics give me the jolt I need every week. It’s a beautiful thing.
This week promises to be even more beautiful than most. Some major events are gearing up, as they often do every fall. Both Marvel and DC Comics love to start major events in the early fall, often allowing them to conclude just in time for the holidays. They make for exciting times, as well as wild speculation on message boards. What more could a comic book fan ask for?
Once again, I offer my pull list and pick of the week. Always, I hope a new batch of comics gives you all the strength you need to endure another week. Enjoy!
