This video is a collection of images and footage from my annual trip to the New York Comic Con. This has become one of my favorite annual traditions. Going to New York, taking part in this convention, and meeting some of my favorite creatives just fills me with so much joy. And this year was one of the most eventful to date. There was so much to see and I didn’t get to experience everything. But it was still a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go back next years. In the meantime, enjoy these moments from my trip!

This video is my personal take on Smile, a 2022 horror movie that I was really excited about when I first saw the trailer. But after seeing it in theaters, I found myself a bit underwhelmed with how it played out. I still thought it was a good movie, but it had the potential to be much greater. And I think that shortcoming offers some lessons for future horror movies. Enjoy!

This is video another entry in my ongoing “Jack’s Comic Gems” collection. And for this gem, I re-visit one of the darkest, grittiest gems from the early 2000s. A lot has been made in recent years about Frank Castle and the iconography of the Punisher, largely due to toxic politics and creative failures.
But in the early 2000s, Garth Ennis gave us the greatest iteration of the modern Punisher with the Punisher MAX series. This was Frank Castle as his best and most brutal. If that era had a high point, it was the Mother Russia arc. It’s a true gem from a different era of Marvel.
It’s a gem from a different world, in general. But even with everything that has changed around us, this story showed us just how brutal and compelling a Punisher comic can be. Enjoy!

This past couple of months, I’ve experimented with making video reviews of comic books on my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a regular thing, but it does seem to have found an audience. So, I wanted to share some of those reviews on this site.
Here’s my review for Jean Grey #1.
Here’s my review for Jean Grey #2.
Here is a playlist of reviews for Ultimate Invasion.

This video is my way of celebrating and honoring Stanislav Petrov, a man who I know for a fact saved my life, as well as the lives of many others. Few know his story or what happened during the events of September 26, 1983. On this day, the world as we knew it almost ended. The Soviet Union and the United States almost went to nuclear war.
But it was because of one man’s decision that this did not happen. Stanislav Petrov is the man who made that decision and for that, I am grateful. After watching this video, I hope others share in this sentiment. Enjoy!

This video explores the question of whether humanity can actually govern itself beyond a certain point. For most of human history, the stakes were local. But now, the stakes are global in a very literal sense. Between climate change and nuclear weapons, humanity has the ability to end itself and all life on Earth.
That makes the question of whether or not we can effectively govern ourselves incredibly relevant. And I try to explore that concept as best I can while leaving some room for speculation on both sides.

This video is a celebration and a retrospective of one of my favorite shows of all time, Married…With Children.
This show was groundbreaking in so many ways. At a time when every other sitcom was about likable, feel-good families, Married…With Children aspired to be precisely not that with the ever-dysfunctional Bundy family. It really broke the mold for what a sitcom could be.
But it’s also one of those shows that gets lumped with others that couldn’t be made today. I respectfully disagree with that. In fact, I argue that Married…With Children is more relevant now than it was when it first aired. Enjoy!
