In this issue, he continues to grow, thanks to some help from his daughter and an unexpected ally. Enjoy!

Jack’s Comic Gems | X-Terminators

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This is video another entry in my ongoing “Jack’s Comic Gems” collection. And in this gem, I single out one of the most unapologetically fun comics to come out in years. And at a time when everything and everyone takes themselves too seriously, a comic that’s just plain fun is just what we need.

X-Terminators by Leah Williams was not billed as some ground-breaking, genre-defining mini-series. It was just a simple, straightforward story about Dazzler, Jubilee, Tabitha, and Laura Kinney going on a crazy adventure that was joyously entertaining every step of the way.

It made for a unique, but refreshing comic experience and one that’s certainly worthy of being a true comic gem. Enjoy!

Avengers, X-Men, And Why The Difference Matters

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video is a bit of a rant on the Avengers, the X-Men, and how they’re depicted in popular media. One is a celebrated team of heroes. The other is hated and feared, even as they try to be heroes, as well. There are many reasons for this that go beyond the general narrative. And with mutants poised to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I believe the time is right to highlight and scrutinize those differences. Enjoy!

Ultimate Black Panther #1 Review: Wakanda Goes To War!

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video is my full review of Ultimate Black Panther #1 by Bryan Hill and Stefano Casalli. This newly-rebooted Ultimate universe continues to evolve in major ways after the events of Ultimate Invasion. And now, Wakanda is set to become the front lines for who will control the future of this new Marvel universe.

King T’Challa finds himself in the midst of an emerging conflict. Khonshu and Ra are waging war on the rest of Africa. And T’Challa has no Avengers to aid him. It sets the stage for a war the likes of which we’ve never seen before as the chaos of this new Ultimate universe continues to evolve. Enjoy!

Jack’s Comic Gems | Lex Luthor: Man Of Steel

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This is video another entry in my ongoing “Jack’s Comic Gems” collection. And in this gem, I highlight a comic centered around the Lex Luthor, the arch nemesis to Superman and an unapologetic villain by which so many are measured.

For much of his history, Lex Luthor has been fairly transparent in his motivations. He HATES Superman. He hates everything he represents and embodies. He is, by every measure, a self-centered narcissist who believes himself to be superior to everyone on Earth.

But this story, Lex Luthor: Man of Steel, manages to add some depth to Lex’s villainy. However, it doesn’t try to make him more sympathetic. It doesn’t even try to vindicate or justify all the awful things that he does. Instead, it helps us understand what makes this man tick and it’s definitely a story worth checking out. Enjoy!

Ultimate X-Men: Concerns, Complications, And Implications For Ultimate Marvel

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video covers some of the concerns I have regarding the future of Ultimate X-Men. When this series was announced after Ultimate Invasion, we learned that Peach Momoko will be writing and drawing it. We also learned a bit about the kind of story it’ll tell.

And for the moment, those details have me worried.

I hope those worries are ultimately unfounded. But I thought I’d share them because I think they have major implications for the future of this new Ultimate Universe. Enjoy!

Ultimate Universe #1 Review: The Ultimate Catalyst

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

And this video is a review and reaction to Ultimate Universe #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Stefano Caselli. After the events of Ultimate Invasion, a new Marvel Universe has to pick up the pieces and rebuild from the Maker’s machinations. But this issue shows that doing so will be much more complicated and volatile than anyone could’ve imagined. Enjoy!
