Jack’s Comic Gems: Darth Vader Volume 1: Vader

The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This is video a fresh entry in my ongoing “Jack’s Comic Gems” collection. And this gem takes us to a galaxy far, far away to the world of Star Wars. Back in 2015, Marvel Comics launched a fresh line of Star Wars comics. These books took place between the events of A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, expanding significantly on the lore between.

There were a lot of notable moments during this emerging era of Star Wars, but one of the best came courtesy of Kieron Gillen with Darth Vader Volume 1: Vader. This simple, but impactful story gave us more than just the Empire’s most feared Sith Lord doing what he does best. It laid a new foundation for the character while giving us a bold new face in Dr. Aphra, as well. It turned out to be a hell of a gem and one I’m eager to talk about. Enjoy!

Jack Plays Cyberpunk 2077: Two New Videos!

The following is a couple of videos that I posted to my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. I’m still experimenting with posting captured or streamed video game footage to my channel. While I haven’t figured out the streaming part, I have gotten better at capturing footage on my PS4.

Below are two lengthy clips of me playing through a couple of missions in Cyberpunk 2077. Let me know what you think and how I’ve styled my female V.

This video is of the mission, “With A Little Help From My Friends.”

This video is of the mission, “Queen of the Highway.”

Lessons From Bojack Horseman: The Toxic Effect Of Celebrity

The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This video is my first deep dive into Bojack Horseman, one of my favorite shows of all time. This Netflix series was so groundbreaking in how it told the story of a washed-up sitcom star from the 90s, who just happened to be a talking horseman. It was funny, but dark at times.

Okay, it was dark most of the time. But that’s beside the point.

There this show offered so many profound themes and insights on everything from mental illness to toxic cycles. But in this video, I focus on how this show depicted the world of celebrity and celebrity culture. Because Bojack’s story can’t be told without also telling the story of a celebrity with a great many personal issue. And while his story is powerful, I also think it sheds a light on the dark side of being a celebrity and how it affects people.

My First Three Nodes On Dark Dimension V In Marvel Strike Force

What follows are a series of videos that I uploaded to my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. They are captured video of me making my way through the first three nodes of my first run on Dark Dimension V. This is one of the most challenging levels in the game to date and just getting there was a challenge, due to the gear restrictions. I still managed to get enough characters in and make my way through the first three nodes. Now, I just need some more gear to make my way through the city nodes.

Here’s me going through Node 1.

Now, here’s me going through Node 2, which turned out to be surprisingly challenging.

Here’s me making my way through Node 3, which was actually quite easy once I got through the first wave.

Jack’s Comic Gems: X-Men First To Last

The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This is a fresh entry in my ongoing “Jack’s Comic Gems” collection. And once again, I have another X-Men comic to add to that ever-growing list in X-Men: First To Last.

It was a high point for the Utopia era of X-Books. However, this particular comic is special, both in terms of its story and the era from which it emerged. It’s not unusual for comics to revisit the past in some major way. Most of the time, it makes for damaging and frustrating retcons.

But every now and then, a comic will find a way to revise history in a way that’s actually compelling and meaningful. Chris Yost and Paco Medina were extra bold in how they linked the current era of X-Men comics with the classic First Class era. But the end result was a true gem of an X-Book. Enjoy!

Morbius Review: Very Basic, Mildly Entertaining, And Underwhelming

The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This video is my review of Morbius, a movie that attempts to bring Marvel’s living vampire to life. Now, to say this movie had a lot working against it would be a gross understatement. Beyond just following up the massive success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, this movie has been delayed and maligned at many turns. Despite all that, I tried to give it a fair chance. And after seeing it, here’s what I hope is a fair review. Enjoy!

Boxing Daria: A Dramatic Insight Into A Character (And An Era)

The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This video is another deep dive in to the sick sad world of Daria, the MTV show that captured the spirit of a sick sad era.

For much of the show, Daria is a harsh, but necessary counter to the absurdities and eccentricities of late 90s Lawndale. When crazy and/or dumb things happen, she’s usually the one to call it out. But in one very unique episode, Boxing Daria, we see a different side of Daria. We see that, beyond the stoic cynicism, there’s some vulnerability that rarely comes out. And when it finally shows in an unexpected way, it makes for one of the best moments of the entire show.

My Pocket Dimension II Runs In Marvel Strike Force

What follows are a couple of videos that I uploaded to my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. They are captured video of me making my way through the Pocket Dimension levels in Marvel Strike Force. These were a lot more challenging than the last time I did them, but I hope these videos help others who are playing this game make their way through. The rewards are definitely worth it.

Here’s my first run.

Now, here’s my Timed Run on Pocket Dimension II.

I hope to upload more footage of me playing this and other games for my channel. If anyone has any tips or suggestions for how to make this content better and more enjoyable for all, please share it. Enjoy!

Would You Willingly Plug Yourself Into The Matrix? A Serious Question

The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This video is both a thought experiment and a deep dive into some of the concepts explored in the Matrix, both the original and The Matrix Resurrections. It explores the idea of creating virtual worlds that feel every bit as real as the real. It also touches on the larger implications of this technology while also asking under what circumstances we would willingly enter such a world.
