Why Americans Should NEVER Talk To The Police: A (Relevant) Legal Perspective
These are strange, distressing times for America. As an American myself, I’ve never been more concerned or pessimistic about the future of the country I love. There are many reasons for that. But rather than get overly political and go on another rant, I want to offer some important advice to any American who might find this.
Regardless of what you see in the news or in rage-baiting headlines, you still have rights under the Constitution.
The current people in power have shown time and again that they are very willing to undermine those rights. You cannot let them. As an American, it is your responsibility to protect and defend those rights. Believe it or not, you do have the law on your side, even if those enforcing it would have you believe otherwise.
To understand, I’d like to refer to an old YouTube video from 2012 that I often share with people who don’t understand the law, the Constitution, or rights in general. It’s a lecture from a former criminal defense attorney at a law school. He makes the case better than anyone before or since that you, an American citizen, should never under any circumstances talk to the police.
It doesn’t matter if you’re innocent. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never broken a single law in your entire life. Thanks to the Constitution, specifically the 5th Amendment, you have the right to not talk to the police. And you should use it. If you want to know why, just watch this video and share it with everyone you know.
Hopefully, you now understand and will act accordingly, should you ever encounter the police or any law enforcement official. There are plenty of other videos on YouTube that document police encounters. But this one is still the most informative from a purely legal perspective.
Also, I would supplement this video with a few other details that are worth mentioning. If the police ever knock on your door, don’t open it unless you have a screen door separating you and the officers. Unless they have a warrant, they cannot legally enter your home by force.
And if possible, record your encounter and let the officers know that you’re recording. It doesn’t matter if they have body cameras. Make sure you document every detail of the encounter. And make sure the video you’re recording is stored somewhere other than your phone. If you ever have any legal issues, that video will be instrumental.
Lastly, and this is something that I doubt the men in the video could’ve foreseen, but these rights apply to everyone in the United States, regardless of their citizenship status. It doesn’t matter what anyone in the reactionary media say. The language of the 14th amendment is very clear.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Note the bold text. It says person and not citizen. Anyone who claims otherwise is an idiot, a liar, or both.
I really wish I didn’t have to make a post like this for my fellow Americans, as well as those aspiring to be American. But these are the times we currently live in. They suck. They’re probably going to get a hell of a lot worse. But at least for now, the Constitution says you have rights. And now, more than ever, you should cherish and defend them.

Why The Maker Could Be The Ultimate Villain For The MCU

The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is very much in flux, even with Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon. But if the MCU is to continue beyond that movie, it’ll need a new villain.
And I strongly believe the Maker should be that villain.
He’s not just an evil, broken version of Reed Richards. He is the ultimate worst case scenario for any Marvel universe. And he would present a truly unique threat to the MCU for multiple phases. Enjoy!

Another Letter To My Future Wife (If She Exists)
Dear Future Wife:
I know it’s been a while. For that, I apologize. Life, work, and the world in general has been chaotic lately. I’m sure that hasn’t been lost on you. I won’t use that as an excuse. I just hope you understand because I’ve been meaning to write this for a while now, but I’m working under a better-late-than-never mentality.
First and most importantly, I hope everything is going well with you. I hope your family is still happy and healthy. I also hope you’re taking care of yourself. I’m trying to do my part. I still go to the gym every day. I’ve tried to tweak my diet and sleep here and there. I won’t say I’m the picture of health, but I continue to make the effort. Everything worth doing starts with effort.
Whether that effort pays off is beyond our control. Perhaps that’s why our paths haven’t crossed yet. You have your own life and you’re doing your best to manage it in this crazy world. That seems to be getting harder with each passing day. But that has never stopped you. I trust you’ll find a way, as you always do.
Along the way, I hope you’ve found time to enjoy yourself. After the COVID-19 pandemic, that’s important. Quarantine and isolation have left some lasting scars. Just getting out regularly still doesn’t feel like it once did. Maybe that has more to do with us getting older than the pandemic. Either way, it doesn’t matter.

One day, I look forward to discussing, arguing, and gushing over every detail. Finding time for that sort of thing isn’t easy. But for you, I’ll make time. That’s what you do for someone you love.
I still hold out hope that such a day will come. With each passing year, that hope dwindles somewhat. It hasn’t completely disappeared. I’m determined to never let that happen, even if I’m on my death bed. But I freely admit there have been times when I wish I’d met you.
In recent years, loved ones I deeply cherished have passed away. I’ve also become an uncle to multiple nieces and nephews. I know it’s not the same as being a parent, but I’ve really come to cherish my role as an awesome uncle. I think you would love it just as much, being an aunt to these kids. They’re so damn energetic, but so much fun to be around.
On top of these big moments, I’ve also found myself missing the little moments. I still live alone. I still sleep alone. On certain nights, I wish I could roll over and see you laying by my side. On certain mornings, I wish I could wake up and meet you in the kitchen for some morning coffee. From there, we could just enjoy each other’s company or make mundane conversation.
But more than anything else, I wish you were here so we could better support each other. Every time a news headline pops up, I feel myself getting upset. I feel my limited faith in humanity faltering just a little bit more. I’m at a point where I don’t see the human species as being able to survive in the long run. I question whether we even deserve to survive.
I don’t want to fall too deep into that kind of despair. It’s just a lot easier when you’re alone and you don’t have someone to love to remind you of what’s good in the world. I suspect you’re handling it better than me. I don’t doubt for a second that my future wife has that kind of strength. One day, I hope it inspires me to be stronger.
But therein lies my greatest fear. I genuinely worry that you and I will never meet. Even if you’re out there, not yet aware of me or the love we’re destined to share, our paths may not cross at any point. We’re so overwhelmed and locked into our current lives. We just don’t have the time or energy to actively seek the love we desire.
I don’t want that to be the case. I hope that’s not the case. Maybe we’ll meet the day after I share this letter. Even if it happens years from then, I’ll be fine with that. Good things are worth waiting for, especially love.
But if that day never comes and I eventually die alone, having never met you, I feel that will be a major loss for both of us. That may end up being beyond our control. I still don’t want that. I still want us to meet. I want our families to meet. I just know my parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews would be thrilled.
I don’t know when, where, or how that will happen. Maybe we’ll meet online. Maybe we’ll meet at a comic book convention, a football game, a grocery store, or just randomly on the street. I honestly don’t care about the circumstances. I just want our paths to cross eventually.
In the meantime, remain strong and hopeful. Keep being tough, sincere, and loving. I’ll keep doing my part, as well.
Until the day comes when we finally meet, I wish you nothing but joy and happiness.

Dear ESPN/Disney: PLEASE Don’t Ruin NFL Redzone
I love football. I hope I’ve made that abundantly clear at this point. I’ve been watching football all my life and this is usually the time of year where my excitement for a new season reaches its apex.
In general, I try not get too caught up in the politics or media matters related to football. I know that’s not always possible. Simply following the NFL isn’t as simple as it used to be. The fact you need multiple streaming services to watch every game in a season is a frustrating trend that I do not like in the slightest. But my love of football still exceeds that frustration, so I’m willing to endure.
Now, there’s been another development on the media aspect of football. On August 5th, 2025, ESPN (which is owned by Disney) and the NFL entered into an agreement in which ESPN will acquire NFL Network and certain other media controlled by the NFL, including NFL RedZone. And it’s that last one that has me the most concerned.
I’ve noted before how much I love NFL Rezone. One of my favorite things to do during football season is sit down on my couch with a pizza and a beer on Sunday afternoon, turn on NFL Redzone, and watch seven straight hours of football with no commercials. No need to change the channel. No need to check in on every game to see if there’s been a major development. NFL Redzone does all that for me, courtesy of its wonderful host, Scott Hansen.
But I’ve seen what happens with these media deals before. It’s become a recurring pattern for over a decade now. A big media conglomerate, of which Disney is one of the biggest, takes control of a major asset. They claim they’re doing this in the name of consolidation and efficiency. But more often than not, it’s ends up accelerating a process called enshitification.
If you don’t know what that word is, you should definitely look it up. It explains a lot of what we observe in the modern media landscape. It describes the tendency of media to decline and degrade in quality, usually because a big company wants to squeeze out more profits to appease shareholders. It’s most prominently featured online, but this is something that happened before the internet. And while Disney isn’t the worst offender (that title belongs to HBO/Warner Brothers), they are pretty damn bad.
I’ve learned to adapt and tolerate enshitification in a lot of things. But I do not want that to happen to NFL Redzone. It’s one of the few things in this world that works perfectly because it avoids commercials and media degradation. It’s just all football for seven hours for 18 Sundays out of the year. If Disney does what Disney is best known to do, it’s only a matter of time before they try injecting commercials or sponsorships into Redzone in a way that degrades the product.
That would be the worst possible scenario and the worst target for enshitification. So to ESPN and their Disney overlords, I beg you on behalf of millions of NFL fans who already pay a ton of money to watch every game, including Redzone.
Please don’t ruin NFL Redzone.
Please resist the urge to enshitify the best thing we football fans have.
The world is already shitty enough. Just let us have this.
