Personal Thoughts On Retirees, Lottery Winners, And Work

See the source image

A lot of people like to dream about what they’d do if they suddenly won the lottery and never had to work again. Only a select few are ever that lucky and a not-insignificant portion of those winners don’t end up happy when that dream is realized. As someone who plays and contemplates the lottery, I’m just as guilty of entertaining that dream.

A less audacious dream involves retiring comfortably. For that, there’s less luck is required. If you work hard for years, saving money and planning responsibly, you can eventually stop working altogether and just live out the rest of your days in comfort. Not everyone gets to that point, but for those that do, it’s worth celebrating. I know this because more than a few friends and family members have retired.

I bring this up because I found myself contemplating this recently. Over the holidays, there were significant stretches in which I didn’t have to work, travel, or do much of anything. I don’t deny that it was relaxing. I definitely enjoyed it. However, after a few days, I found myself feeling restless.

Some of that has to do with me being a morning person. In general, I’m always up early. I’ve been that way since high school. I don’t know if I can ever condition myself otherwise, but during this stint of time, it was somewhat jarring. I woke up. I checked my email. I did a little writing. Then, the sun rose and the day began, but I didn’t know what to do with myself.

While I did find things to do, I realized that I’m not very good at managing long stretches of unstructured time. If I don’t have something to do or a place to be, I get a little anxious and not in a productive way.

During this time, I found myself feeling tired at one in the afternoon. I found myself starting random things, but not finishing them. I tried to relax, but I think I might have tried too hard. By trying so hard, I just stressed myself out and achieved the exact opposite of relaxation.

It leads me to wonder whether I could actually handle a scenario in which I didn’t have to work or anything. If I won the lottery tomorrow, would I even want to just stay home all day? If I retired tomorrow and didn’t have to worry about money for some reason, what would I do with myself?

I know more than a few retirees who occupy their time with many things, but I’m not sure those things are for me. Some of that might just be due to generation gaps. Other reasons might be more personal.

For one, I’m still single. I have no wife or kids to look after. If I did, then I might feel differently about having too much time to myself. Right now, all I know is that I don’t do well when I don’t have some sort of job, task, or goal ahead of me. It can’t just be writing novels and sexy short stories. I need other things to occupy myself.

It was a strange revelation, but one I’m glad I experienced. It gives me a reason to contemplate how I’ll manage myself in the future if I retire or become successful enough that I don’t have to work. Luckily, I’m still relatively young and I have plenty of time to plan that out.

Some people can be happy lying around the house all day doing nothing. There’s nothing wrong with those people. I hope they achieve their dreams, as well. I just don’t think I’m that kind of person. One day, I hope I have a chance to see what I can do with that kind of time. Until then, I feel lucky that I have the life I have.

How I Made My Morning Cup Of Coffee More Awesome (By Accident)

As I write this, I have a fresh cup of coffee right next to my keyboard. If you’re reading this early in the morning, chances are you have some coffee too. We’re in good company. A nice cup of coffee is a great way to start your day. Whether you have a full time job, are an overworked college student, or retired, coffee is one of those magical elixirs that gets us going in the morning.

It’s not just a multi-billion dollar industry. It has real health benefits. Most functioning adults can’t imagine getting through their day without it. I didn’t always drink coffee, but I’ve come to appreciate it as I’ve gotten older. It’s one of the best parts of my morning.

For that very reason, I’d like to share a brief story about how I made this routine, yet enjoyable part of my day more awesome. Moreover, I did it by accident and I hope it inspires others to find new ways of making their morning coffee even better. Consider it a gift that I bought by complete accident.

It happened a while back around Halloween. It was around a time when everyone was stocking up on candy. Some friends of mine had more than done our part. We had a big bowl of candy in the kitchen that everyone picked at for days on end. I was one of them.

One morning, I grabbed a few peanut butter cups while brewing my coffee.  Typically, I drink my coffee black. I never use creamer or sugar. Sometimes, I will pour a little cocoa powder into the mix, usually around holidays or social gatherings. I wasn’t planning to do that on this particular day.

Then, something amazing happened.

After setting my cup of coffee down, I accidentally dropped a peanut butter cup right into it. At first, I felt stupid and clumsy. Then, I looked down at the frothy, chocolate-laden mixture forming in my cup. I soon realized that this might be the greatest accident I’ve ever had.

I took a sip of my coffee with the peanut butter cup now floating within it. A strange new convergence of tasty joy followed. It was like a revelation. It took two wonderful things and combined them into something that was even better. It made my morning and the rest of my day.

Again, this was a complete accident, but one from which something beautiful emerged. If you happen to love coffee and peanut butter cups, I highly recommend you give it a try. Just one or two cups will do. Give if a few minutes to melt and froth. You’ll be glad you did.

If you have another way of making morning coffee even better, I’d love to hear it. Just know that the sweet, potent combination of peanut butter cups and coffee will be hard to top.

Daily Sexy Musings: To Stun (Or Be Stunned By) Your Lover

Young man covering the eyes of an happy surprised girlfriend

There’s a moment in every cheesy romance movie when two characters stand together, look at each other with the utmost intensity, and are utterly overwhelmed. It’s usually not the culmination of a love story. It’s often a catalyst or a turning point. It can be beautiful, but it can also be horribly clichéd. Depending on its impact, it can make or break the story.

In movies like “Crazy/Beautiful” and “The Notebook,” it works. In other movies, like “Summer Catch” or “Good Luck Chuck,” it fails on every level. Having watched more romance movies than any straight man will ever admit, I can tell when that moment carries real emotional weight and when it’s overly forced. It can make or break a love story.

That moment isn’t just a product of cinema. It reflects powerful feelings that we have in real life. For those of us who are or have been in love, we remember that moment when our lover stunned us with their presence. It’s a moment that tends to leave a powerful impression. No matter how the relationship pans out, you remember that moment. You even cherish it on some level.

We want to present our best selves to our lovers. We want to show them and the world around us just how great we can be. It often takes work, planning, and even a little luck. It’s definitely worth doing. I hope this Daily Sexy Musing inspires you to do it in whatever way makes that moment special for you and your lover. Enjoy!

We’ve had time to prepare. Everything is set. I’ve planned everything down to the second. Every reservation, location, and accommodation are in place. I put on my best attire, wanting and knowing that you deserve my best self. Not a single flaw will be visible. The image I present will be one you lock away as a treasured memory. It all seems so perfect.

Then, you open the door and I see you.

Suddenly, my idea of perfection takes on a whole new level.

I am utterly shocked in the best possible way. In that moment, time stops. I can hardly breath, but I’ve never felt more alive. My heart beats faster, my skin gets hotter, and every fiber of my being is now channeled onto you. There’s no doubt in my mind. You had plans too and yours was better.

I walk up to you, making sure it’s not a dream.

I touch your face, if only to feel real beauty in my hands.

I smile at you, letting you know that you’ve brightened my world.

I try to put into words how I feel, knowing it’s utterly impossible.

Together, we stand in this moment, unbound by time and place. We can already feel a treasured memory being forged, etching itself in our minds and hearts. When we draw our last breaths, this will be among those moments that cross our minds, reminding us of our most joyous moments. That’s in the distant future. This is now.

As I hold you and you hold me, we marvel in one another’s awe. I’ve admired your beauty before. I know you’ve admired mine just as much. It comes in many forms, forged and framed in many diverse circumstances. This one is special.

You know it.

I know it.

Together, we embrace it.

Daily Sexy Musing: Sexy Singing

julianne-hough-is-that-so-wrong-video-sexy

Certain people are just born with an incredible singing voice. Famous musicians like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson, and Stevie Wonder came out of the womb with incredible talent and they’ve done plenty to nurture that talent. Between that talent and the music they make with it, there’s no denying the unique allure of their voice.

I say that as someone who freely admits he can’t sing worth a damn. I have many talents that I’m proud of, but singing isn’t one of them. I just don’t have the voice for it. I do know plenty of people who do and I’ve seen first-hand how it affects others. It’s not always sexual, but it can certainly have that effect.

A good singing voice is like a siren’s song. It draws people in and, with the right mood and melody, can make them very horny. I doubt it’ll surprise anyone that some of my favorite songs have some very sexual rhythms and connotations. Whether it’s a bubblegum pop song or one born of hard rock, it can really set a sexy mood.

Having a voice like that, or just having a lover with that kind of voice, is akin to having a super-power. When you can both sing and seduce, it makes for uniquely intense moments. Not everybody has the ability. I would even argue that only a minority of people have that sort of singing talent. That only makes the sex appeal more special.

I may not be able to sing, but I can try to capture that sex appeal with my words in this Daily Sexy Musing. That’s one talent I know I can wield. Enjoy!

We set the beat.

We start the melody.

We read the lyrics.

However, it’s you who brings it all together.

Your voice is the catalyst, but the show is just beginning. One word becomes a line and several lines become a refrain. Hot beats, intense rhythm, and heartfelt soul play out through every note and tone. In you, however, the song has heart. With it, you capture mine.

I can only listen in awe as you serenade my surroundings. My ears ring with the sweetest of sounds. Like a dining on my favorite treat, I am overwhelmed with joy and contentment. In this moment, the entire world comes together in a harmonious moment. Through your voice, a special energy consume all who hear it.

Every passion echoes through the lyrics.

Every tone resonates in my soul.

Every connection between us intensifies.

Within my head, the echoes resonate through every fiber of my being. Anyone can hear the sounds of beat and enjoy the rhythm of the melody. Only a select few can turn their voice into an instrument of poetry and grandeur. You are among those few.

I hear your song.

I cherish your voice.

I heed your call.

Through the harmony of song and rhythm, you tell me in few words what cannot be articulated fully. Without a voice like yours, I cannot hope to reply with a similar spectacle. However, that only means I must convey my love in other ways. I may not have a voice like yours, but that doesn’t mean we cannot share a concert.

Daily Sexy Musing: Lazy Afternoon Loving

close-up-sleeping-young-couple-sofa_23-2147904454

A lazy afternoon is like an extended massage. It’s one of those things you feel like you really need every once in a while. There are also times when you need it more than usual. Also like a massage, it can be incredibly refreshing when done right. It’s also one of those things that can be uniquely sexy when you have someone to share it with.

When I was dating my ex-girlfriend, lazy afternoons helped foster some of our most romantic moments. There were no elaborate dates or events. There were no fancy clothes or makeup, either. It was just us, a couch, and a TV. We just lofted about, occasionally swapping romantic gestures. It might not have been the sexiest manifestation of our love, but it still felt special.

Being a romantic, I believe that love isn’t just something you feel in some elaborate gesture. I believe you know you’re in love when you’re happy being lazy with someone on an afternoon. Whether it’s in the dog days of summer or the coldest parts of winter, those afternoons can be nothing short of cathartic.

They can also be quite sexy, as well. Granted, it’s a unique kind of sexiness. When you’re feeling lazy, you’re rarely inclined to get energetic. That defeats the purpose of laziness. At the same time, you can still find ways to make use of that passion. It might not lead to rub burns or broken furniture, but it can still be very satisfying.

Try to keep that in mind during the next lazy afternoon you share with your lover. Use this Daily Sexy Musing as a reminder, if necessary. There’s a time to be busy, focused, and energetic. A lazy afternoon isn’t one of them. That still doesn’t mean it can’t be sexy. Enjoy!

The afternoon sun blares through the windows.

The air hangs still and calm.

The atmosphere around us is peaceful and serene.

It’s as though the entire world has stopped to catch is breath. All the work, anxieties, and rigors that consume our lives are set aside, if only for a moment. There’s no urgency of any kind. Every struggle and conflict are temporarily muted. On this ordinary afternoon, it’s just us at our most relaxed.

We’re not groomed or polished.

We’re not overdressed or on a schedule.

We’re not even inclined to exert ourselves beyond the bare necessities.

It’s a strange, but welcome feeling and one I’m glad to share. Lounging about with you at my side, I can appreciate the bare essence of our love. We see each other at our best and accept one another at our worst. This moment occupies the vast area in between.

Sharing these lazy afternoons, we can step back and marvel at the love we’ve built. All the pursuits and endeavors, full of energy and passion, helped us forge this bond. Now, we can bathe in the power of the bond. There’s nothing left to prove. Just being around each other is enough. It’s all we need to affirm our love.

I turn to you.

You turn to me.

We smile together and embrace.

Without great energy or exertion, we turn our love into actions. With it, we sink further into a state of contentment and bliss. On this lazy afternoon, there is little else to achieve. Little else is necessary.

Daily Sexy Musings: Soothing Heartbreak

54714-sun-heart-autumn-leaf-39379.800w.tn_

There’s no way around it. Heartbreak sucks. It feels awful on so many levels. It may not leave a physical mark, but it’s one of those wounds that never seems to heal. You can stub your toe a hundred times or break every bone in your body. Those things still heal. Heartbreak doesn’t.

I know this because I’ve endured my share of heartbreak over the years. I’m not just referring to break-ups in a relationship, either. There have been times when someone I’ve had strong feelings for just flat out rejects me and not in a polite way. Suddenly, those feelings that once gave you comfort and hope are now a source of pain. Even though you move on, it still hurts.

However, as painful as heartbreak can be, it can open us up to a unique kind of intimacy. Sometimes, it comes from a close friend. Sometimes, it comes from someone who goes onto become a lover. Whatever the case, these are the moments in which we’re at our most vulnerable. Our wounded soul is laid bare. We seek comfort and those who provide it have a special place in our hearts.

It doesn’t always lead you to the love of your life. It may not even lead you to another relationship. Regardless of the outcome, there’s a powerful intimacy at work. It’s an unspoken intimacy and one that doesn’t always require something sexual. However, when it gets to that level, the pain of heartbreak becomes something else entirely.

While heartbreak rarely starts off as something sexy and intimate, it can lead to something genuinely profound in the right moment. Those moments are rare, but they’re not fleeting. This Daily Sexy Musing is my attempt to capture such a moment. Enjoy!

I’m deeply hurt.

I’m in so much pain.

I’m battered and broken.

I’m at my weakest state.

This is how you found me. I’m a cracked shell. My heart lays in ruin, every piece scattered to the winds. The love I thought I had is no more. What once made me strong has rendered me weak and vulnerable. The loss defies words. I try to articulate it, but the words only tell a fraction of the story. They can never do justice to the pain.

However, you still listen. In my darkest hour, you stay with me and give me comfort. From the ashes of my tattered soul, you create the forge. It’s still up to me to put the pieces back together.

Through you, I find renewed strength.

Through you, I pull myself up.

Through you, I finally feel something other than heartache.

It happens slowly, but steadily. What I lost can never be regained. The mark it left will never disappear. At first, I despair. Then, I accept it. Thanks to you, I dare to embrace it and the bitter memories that come with it. From those memories are lessons and from those lessons, you show me a new path.

In heartache, I endure harsh failure.

In heartache, I explore deeper passions.

In heartache, I uncover profound truths.

In heartache, I see who is there for me and who has left me behind.

You’re here now. I feel your care and your love. From it, heartache is the end of one thing and the beginning of something more.

Daily Sexy Musing: Sexy Sweet Talk

2

In case the sheer volume of sexy short stories, erotica/romance novels, and articles on sex robots haven’t been obvious enough, I have a deep appreciation for sexy rhetoric. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate pictures of bikini models, lingerie, and speedos as much as the next guy, but I’ve always been extra fond of sexy talk.

I’m not just referring to basic dirty talk, either. I love that too, but I’m also quite fond of general sweet talk. I admit it can be cheesy, especially for people who aren’t good with words or struggle conversing with the opposite sex. It can be especially hilarious for teenagers. I once knew a kid in high school who tried to describe his love for his girlfriend with deli meat. I wish I was kidding.

When done right, though, sweet talk can create a uniquely intimate moment. It can really solidify a connection between two people who just met. It can also reaffirm old passions between people who have been married for several decades. It’s often personal. Two people who know each other and love each other will know just what to say and how to say it in order to get their hearts racing. It’s a beautiful thing.

It can take the form of a soft whisper. It can be a cheesy song that you hum in the shower. It’s essentially a loving gesture that’s tailor-made for specific lovers. You don’t always know what form it’ll take. You just know that when it’s done right, it’s incredibly powerful. I’m going to try and capture some of that power with this Daily Sexy Musing. I doubt I’ll capture it all. Enjoy!

A soft whisper.

A catchy song.

A single sentence.

A deep tone.

Like a key to your heart, I unlock that special well of love that exists between us. On their own, every word is just a word. You’ve heard them from others as often as me. We know their meaning. They simply pass us by like a subtle breeze. Through my voice and through my passions, however, they take on a new dimension.

They tap into something deeper.

They evoke unique feelings.

They reveal a special bond.

They open a hidden channel.

When you hear it, I feel you melt in my arms. You become as light and vulnerable as a cloud, barely held together by intimate whims. I hold you and you cling to me. I offer more of those sweet, special words that send you into a frenzy. It’s a wondrous sight to behold.

In this message, I give depth and meaning to our love. It becomes poetry, a work of art that transcends the medium. No longer a feeling that defies description, it becomes something we can comprehend. Just hearing those powerful words in that intimate conjures things that are nothing short of magic. What only seemed possible in fantasy becomes real, simply through words.

Every gesture is so true.

Every word is so raw.

Every sentiment is so sweet and we gladly taste it together.
