Lessons From Daria: Lucky Strike, Modern Education, And Quinn’s Evolution

In this video, I revisit the misanthropic world of Daria Morgendorffer to highlight one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, Lucky Strike. This episode wasn’t just a high point for the series. It marked a major turning point for Daria’s sister, Quinn. It even found time to cast new light on modern education, everything that’s wrong with it, and how Daria found a way to make it not suck.

Jean Grey #4 Review: Rebirth, Recourse, And Reaffirmation

And this video is my review of Jean Grey #4, the fourth and final issue of Jean’s mini-series by Louise Simonson and Bernard Chang. After three issues of agonizing over past decisions, Jean Grey’s struggle returns to the present. She must finally come to terms with the choices she’s made and her connection to the Phoenix Force. And the end result is a truly profound moment for this iconic character. Enjoy!

Captain Fall: A Dark Comedy Without Any Comedy

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video is my take on, Captain Fall. This Netflix animated series looked like it could be another worthy addition to Netflix’s growing library of adult animation. And as a fan of adult animation, in general, I hoped it would measure up.

But it didn’t.

Instead, Captain Fall became one the worst series I have binged in a long time. I honestly cannot remember a time I was this disappointed with a series. It was bad for many reasons, more than enough to warrant a video. Whether you agree with me on it or not, I hope it offers insights and lesson into the genre. Enjoy!

Ultimate Universe #1 Review: The Ultimate Catalyst

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream – The Scariest Story I’ve Ever Read

Happy Halloween! And to celebrate this spooky holiday, here’s a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. It’s about the scariest story I’ve ever read. It’s entitled “I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream” by Harlan Ellison. This short, but powerful story was first published in 1967. But the concepts and dread it inspired left a lasting impact.

It’s setting is post-apocalyptic, long after most of the human race went extinct. It’s concepts were ahead of its time, dealing with artificial intelligence and failing to control it.

How it plays out isn’t for the feint of heart. But this is a story that has become more relevant in recent years with greater advances in AI. And, beyond the horror, it’s a story that deserves to be celebrated. Enjoy!
