Jack’s Comic Gems | All-New Wolverine: Enemy of the State II

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

In this entry of Jack’s Comic Gems, I highlight All-New Wolverine: Enemy of the State II. This spiritual successor to the acclaimed Enemy of the State arc in a previous Wolverine series makes Laura Kinney a target among heroes, villains, and hated rivals alike. It pushes her in ways she’s never been pushed before. But it ends leaving little doubt that she deserves the title of Wolverine. Enjoy!

Jack’s Comic Gems | X-Men ’92 House Of XCII

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World.

This video is another entry in my “Jack’s Comic Gems” series. This time, I highlight a brief, but memorable mini-series that reimagines the classic House of X/Powers of X story, but in the world of X-Men 92. It’s a unique, but uncanny combination that proves to be a quality gem for all the right reasons.

Jack’s Comic Gems: Thanos Wins

This is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This is video another addition to my “Jack’s Comic Gems” collection. And this gem is dark, in many ways.

In a story by Donnie Cates, we get a vision of the worst possible scenario for the distant future of the Marvel Universe. In that future, the Mad Titan, Thanos, that has unleashed such fear and dread…wins. But what does it mean for Thanos to finally mean? And what are the larger implications in the past, present, and future of the Marvel universe?

These are heavy questions that help make this gem as compelling as it is dark. Enjoy!

Jack’s Comic Gems: Meet The Skrulls

This is another video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This is another addition to my “Jack’s Comic Gems” collection. And this particular gem stands out because it’s a story about the Skrulls and just before the debut of Secret Invasion, no less.

Anybody who has read a lot of Marvel comics know that stories about the Skrulls tend to be predictable, revolving around infiltration and invasion. Meet The Skrulls dares to be something more. It’s not just a story about Skrull agents infiltrating Earth. It’s a story about family. And it’s a story about how that family fights to survive when both humans and even their fellow Skrulls work against them. Enjoy!

Jack’s Comic Gems: Starfire

The following is video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. It’s yet another entry in my Jack’s Comic Gems playlist where I highlight uniquely special gems from the world of comics. For this particular gem, we travel to the magical world of Key West, Florida where we meet a special, orange skinned princess in Starfire. If you’re a fan of DC Comics, this is one of those books that might have slipped under the radar, due to when it came out. However, it’s not too late to appreciate this uniquely endearing story about the empathic and endearing Tamaranea princess.

Also, I know the audio for this was choppy. I don’t know what caused it. I apologize. Rest assured, it doesn’t make the comic any less a gem.

Jack’s Comic Gems: Duke Nukem Glorious Bastard

The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. It’s the latest entry in my ongoing Jack’s Comic Gems series in which I highlight a quality gem from the world of comics. This one brings to light a gem from the world of Duke Nukem, a video game character who hasn’t been relevant since the 90s. However, he still managed to be part of an unexpectedly good comic. I was surprised too, but in a good way. Enjoy!

Jack’s Comic Gems: Psylocke

The following is a YouTube video from my channel, Jack’s World. It’s a fresh entry to my ongoing Jack’s Comic Gems series in which I highlight a rare and special gem from the comic book world. This time, I focus on Psylocke, a character whose star has been on the rise lately in Excalibur. However, she’s always found a way to stand out, as a character.

If you’ve been enjoying he most recent exploits in the pages of the X-books, then you’ll really enjoy “Psylocke,” by Chris Yost. This 4-issue mini from the early 2010s stands out in many ways, but it’s also a Psylocke story that involves ninjas and former lovers. Need I say more?

Jack’s Comic Gems: Spider-Gwen Volume 0: Most Wanted?

The following is a video for my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. It’s another entry into my Jack’s Comic Gem series. This time, I traverse the Spider-Verse to highlight a gem from a character whose rise to fame has been like no other. In addition to stealing the show from “Into The Spider-Verse,” Spider-Gwen has done plenty to make herself one of the most popular characters Marvel has created in the past five years. It may have started with a tie-in, but “Spider-Gwen Volume 0: Most Wanted” helped start her amazing journey. This video shows why that journey is worth following. Enjoy!
