The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This is video another entry in my ongoing “Jack’s Comic Gems” collection. This time, I highlight a single issue from the first volume of Mighty Morphin Power Ranger by Boom Studios. It was, in my opinion, one of the most pivotal issues to date. It gave us the origin story of Grace Sterling, as well as a new perspective on what it means to be a Ranger.

Making Power Rangers A (Successful) Cinematic Universe
The following is a video from my YouTube channel, Jack’s World. This video is my take on the possibility of a Power Rangers Cinematic Universe. After the 2017 movie failed to launch a franchise, Netflix is planning to try again. And give the lengthy history and lore of Power Rangers, I think there’s real potential. But making Power Rangers a successful cinematic universe for a new generation won’t be like Marvel or DC Comics. I believe there will be unique challenges to taking Power Rangers to this level, but I believe it can be done. Hopefully, we’ll see it come together in the near future.

New Comic Book Day March 3, 2021: My Pull List And Pick Of The Week
I’m ready for the world to get better. By that, I don’t mean I’m ready for it to return to the way it was before a global pandemic hit that sent the entire world into a pit of misery porn for a year. Just going back to how things were when I could go into a movie theater without a mask isn’t enough. I want things to get better.
What exactly does that entail? I don’t know.
Am I ready and willing to do what I must to get there? Yes, I am.
I hope there are some good, meaningful changes that come out of this year-long nightmare that make the world a better place. I really do. However, even as things get better, some things will not change. That includes how I conduct myself on Wednesday mornings for New Comic Book Day. My love of comics transcends any pandemic.
It’s a big part of what has helped me navigate this mess. Even through the worst parts of the spike that occurred late last year, I was still able to enjoy New Comic Book Day. I still had something to look forward to every week. It helped get me out of bed, especially on Wednesday mornings. For that, I’ll always be grateful to the wonderful writers, artists, and editors of my favorite publishers.
Now, as the world emerges from this darkness, I’m ready look ahead towards something better. However, I will always take time on Wednesday mornings to enjoy New Comic Book Day. Here is my pull list and pick for this week. Hopefully, it’s yet another step in the right direction. Enjoy!

New Comic Book Day November 11, 2020: My Pull List And Pick Of The Week
Today is a uniquely special day. Yes, it’s New Comic Book Day, but it’s also Veterans Day. I find that wonderfully fitting. That means we can spend part of our day appreciating our favorite fictional heroes and the rest honoring the real heroes who serve in our armed forces.
There’s a lot to appreciate on a day like this. Fiction heroes, after all, are embodiments of our highest ideals. Things like honor, duty, respect, loyalty, comradery, and altruism are all qualities we cherish in our favorite heroes. They’re also traits that our brave men and women in the military aspire to uphold.
It’s a beautiful thing and certainly worthy of a holiday or several. Even if you’re not a fan of comics or superheroes, it’s still something to celebrate. If you can, try to do more by either volunteering for a Veterans organization or donating to a veterans charity. Both real heroes and those in comics need and deserve our support.
Keep that in mind as you read about and admire your favorite heroes today. I certainly will. For much of my life, comic books and superheroes have given me a strong appreciation for these high ideals. We may think they’re impossible to achieve in the real world, but they’re still worth striving for. As part of that effort, here is my pull list and pick for the week.
To all the men and women out there who have served their country or are currently serving, I salute you. Happy Veterans Day to all and here’s to a very special New Comic Book Day.

Jack’s World: Why You Should Be Reading Boom Studios’ Power Rangers
The following is a video I made for my channel, Jack’s World. It was originally going to be one of my comic gems, but given the scope and scale of the Power Rangers comics in recent years, I felt it warranted something bigger and mightier. Enjoy!

New Comic Book Day June 17, 2020: My Pull List And Pick Of The Week
The world is changing every day. The news is getting more and more stressful in the process. Coping with it might as well be superpower at this point, which gives even more value to the things that give us joy. A lot of things give me joy in life, but a fresh stack of comics on New Comic Book Day is among the most potent.
The comic book industry is still not fully recovered from the impact of the pandemic. The industry is already changing rapidly, as a result. I have no idea where those changes will lead. I also have no idea what the industry will look like a year from now. There’s already a concerted effort to be more “normal” next month. All we can do is focus on the scheduled releases before us.
The world will always be hectic, to some extent. I’m old enough to remember when people spent weeks on end, dreading how the world was going to collapse due to Y2K. We got through that. We got through plenty of more crap after that. My love of comics helped me get through it. I hope comics have a similar effect to those who love them as much as I do.
To that end, I offer my pull list and pick for the week. We’re almost back at full strength, my fellow comic fans. Just hang in there and enjoy another New Comic Book Day in this ever-evolving shit storm that we call life.
